Chris Carpenter

Chris CarpenterChris Carpenter, Chris Carpenter had the task of off Roy Halladay duel Friday night, and so actually did. In front of a packed house at Citizens Bank Park, the Cardinals as the Phillies line is to hit the ball on the floor all night. The St. Louis Cardinals, in a way unlikely, are moving on to face the Milwaukee Brewers for the right to play in the World Series.
A triple Rafael Furcal followed with a double Skip Schumaker to carry out of the game helped the Cardinals win the only race of the night. Carpenter made it 1-0 feet, going the distance allowing just three hits. He struck out three batters and did not allow a walk.

The Cardinals big right-hander recorded 16 groundball outs at night. Nick Punto and Rafael Furcal were solid as a rock until midnight – every man did all the necessary works. The former Gold Glove winner Albert Pujols made a good couple plays well.
In what could possibly be seen as a disappointing year for standards Carpenter, the man in question did not disappoint last night. Phillies clinched the whole night, the location of his fastball and curve of expertise.
The curve was particularly nasty on Friday. The slower version of the floor, falling over the plate about 20 mph slower than his fastball, has the ability to split 3 to 3 ½ feet. She was pulling on the earth, and I was throwing left-handers, he was only doing almost everything I wanted.
From the first inning was evident in Carpenter had his best game in progress, and the Philadelphia fans in mind. The crowd was really strong only for a few brief moments, but I’m not so sure how much he cared whether they were screaming – Carpenter was in the area last night.
In the fourth, the crowd got into it, as Raul Ibanez had runners on first and third with two down. He put a post in which he was admitted to right, but fell slightly below the wall to end the threat.
Again in the sixth, Chase Utley groundout found in the gardens, the creaking of Pujols and Point. But the Phillies tried to be aggressive, and Utley attempted to steal a second Carpenter breaking ball. Utley has a big jump, and Yadier Molina appeared that he had no shot to throw the runner. However, the receiver for the Cardinals made the perfect shot, and Utley could not beat the tag. It was at this time when the fear really started to slide in the city of brotherly love.
With relatively low pitch count Carpenter, after eight innings, he returned to finish things in the ninth. Utley led off the ninth, swinging on the first pitch, and cold-cocked a drag deep right-center, but John Jay made a great catch running decent on the warning track.
After Ryan Howard was the final out that was it. This was one of the best pitching performances I’ve ever seen. It almost seemed as if the Phillies are just gave the Cardinals the practice of painting.
For fans of Philadelphia, Roy Halladay last year no-hitter in the playoffs is probably a distant memory. With the Phillies pitching, which is supposed to go far this year – maybe even win it all. But one man changed all that last night. Chris Carpenter and his nasty curve has been very impressive, and it is safe to assume that really annoyed the citizens of Philadelphia last night.
