Cheltenham Ladies’ Day, As the second day of the 2012 Cheltenham Festival draws to a close, the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup site reviews the Ladies Day results and provides Cheltenham St. Patrick’s Day predictions for the Thursday races.

With the second day of Cheltenham Festival 2012 coming to an end, the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup site runs through the Ladies Day results. There were a number of unexpected performances, as well as favourites who verified expectations by placing first. For the next day at Cheltenham Festival, the site is also offering St. Patrick’s Thursday betting tips and predictions for races including the World Hurdle and Ryanair Chase.

During Cheltenham Ladies Day, Nicky Henderson enjoyed his 41st Cheltenham win, making him the most successful festival trainer of all time. Simonsig slowly advanced from the back of the group to battle with Cotton Mill for first position. Following Cotton Mill’s hurdle blunder, which resulted in his jockey Denis O’Regan dismounting the horse, Simonsig enjoyed an easy win with hardly any competition from other entrants.

Another favourite who won during the Ladies Day afternoon was Bobs Worth. Along the RSA Chase home straight, it was a close call between First Lieutenant and Bobs Worth. While Grands Crus raced with the leading two horses for part of the final round, he was unable to keep up the pace and slipped into fourth position.

The Queen Mother Champion Chase was an explosive race which many horse racing professionals will be discussing for years to come. While Wishfull Thinking was in the lead, the horse careered into the fence, falling and dismounting jockey Richard Johnson. The race was then a close competition between Finian’s Rainbow and Sizing Europe. While Finian’s Rainbow won, many believe that the insufficient warning about a closed fence disrupted Sizing Europe more than his opponent, causing him to lose.
