Cannon Falls MNCannon Falls MN, President Barack Obama arrived in Cannon Falls, Minnesota just after 11:30 am on Monday, kicking off his three-day bus tour of the Midwest. Joining the President on the trip by bus from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton and Senator Al Franken, among others.

Obama ran on stage and warmly greeted the crowd Cannon Falls, telling everyone to take a seat a prepare for town hall meeting, which began shortly before the noon hour.

“Hi Cannon Falls, Minnesota, hello,” said Obama. “What a spectacular setting. Let the grill going.”

When a girl asked why the president stopped in Cannon Falls, said, “Because I heard Cannon Falls has some of the brightest children and looking around. It has been confirmed.”

The town hall meeting gives the president the opportunity to hear directly from the frustration of U.S. politicians in Washington.

In the national budget and the economy …

“There is nothing wrong with America that can not be fixed. What is broken is our policy.”

Obama called the debate on the debt ceiling that tested the boiling point of the public “a debacle” and a “self-inflicted wound.”

“We have a political culture willing to move America forward.”

“This is not a financial crisis but may become so unless we act. This is a political crisis.”

The president has requested a reduction in payroll renewed unemployment taxes, tax incentives for hiring veterans and patent reform, as part of the economic solution. Is also requesting increased taxes on the rich to help balance the budget.

“It’s not that complicated, but requires commitment,” he said.

The Republicans … Obama criticized Republican presidential candidates have said during the debate in recent weeks in Iowa that will not accept any tax increase to balance the budget.

“You have to send a message to Washington that it is time to stop the games, it’s time to put country first,” Obama said, speaking to the strength of the vote. “I’m here to enlist in a fight. It’s a fight for the future of our country. Is a struggle that is going to win.”?

Next stop … After Cannon Falls, Obama heads south of Decorah, Iowa for another evening the council on Monday. This is followed by a “forum of the rural economy” in Peosta, Iowa on Tuesday and City Council meetings on Wednesdays in Atkinson, Illinois, and Alpha, Illinois
