Britain’s Got Talent

Britain’s Got Talent, BRITAIN’S Got Talent supremo Simon Cowell has accused the BBC of “silly rivalry” over the competition between his show and the Corporation’s The Voice.

Cowell said yesterday he believes the BBC deliberately targeted him and launched The Voice to steal viewers from his X Factor show and ITV.

But speaking at the launch of Britain’s Got Talent in London, the music mogul, 52, said he was not afraid of the competition over the two shows which both start tomorrow and go head-to-head for 20 minutes in the prime-time Saturday night schedule.

And he said he believed he had found not one but “several” new stars in this year’s search for new talent.

Cowell said he had taken revenge “of sorts” on the BBC by stealing Alesha Dixon from Strictly Come Dancing to be a new panellist on BGT.

His colleague Amanda Holden also waded into the BBC versus ITV debate, saying she believed the scheduling clash was “petty” and “only affected the general public’s enjoyment”.

The BBC have got to learn that when you mess around with schedules it affects the viewers, and that to me is silly rivalry
