Brit Awards 2012, Adele has won the BRIT for British Female Solo Artist at the 2012 music awards ceremony.

The 23-year-old singer, whose hits include Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You, was presented with the coveted gong by the super-stylish Kylie Minogue, who looked stunning in a strapless electric blue dress with a jewel embellishment.

Adele herself looked beautiful in a sheer black gown with her new blonde locks softly waved – but she made a joke about her looks as she accepted her gong off Kylie.

She said: “Hello, oooh my god. ooh thank you so much.” After being told how good she looked off Kylie, Adele responded: “I look like a drag queen next to you!”

“It’s been am amazing year than you so much… thanks to my fans. No one’s ever made me feel like I’m to be any different, thank you very much!”

Adele managed to beat off stiff competition from Jessie J, Florence and the Machine, Kate Bush and Laura Marling to win the title.

Last year’s winner was folk singer Laura Marling, who beat off competition from fellow stars Cheryl Cole, Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith and rising star Rumer.

The latest win tops off an amazing 12 months for English songstress Adele, who achieved major success despite battling with a vocal chord haemorrhage which required surgery.

Adele’s latest win comes just weeks after the star achieved huge success at the Grammy Awards, picking up no less than six gongs.

As well as winning British Female Solo Artist – one of the biggest awards of the night – the singer is also nominated for British Single (for Someone Like You) and Mastercard British Album of the Year (for 21).
