Kent Turene, Linebacker Kent Turenne, who with a release from USC the weekend, has signed with Georgia on Wednesday morning. The 6 feet 3 inches, 225 pounds linebacker Boyd Anderson High in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., committed to USC seven months ago, but opened his recruitment after visiting Bulldogs, Texas Tech and Nebraska in January.

Turenne, which would have added depth to a position much more necessary for the Trojans, entered the room with a hat from Texas Tech before throwing out a hat and entering Georgia. He is listed as a four-star linebacker to the outside by ESPN and is a three star recruit at linebacker, according to Scout and Rivals.

A 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, Turenne reports for posting a hat Texas Tech – the other school in competition with Georgia and USC – but his letter of intent was sent to late morning Wednesday at the offices of football in Georgia, and the day keeps getting better for Mark Richt and company. The native of Lake Lauderdale, Florida, should be a welcome sight to a linebacking corps that lost Darryl Gamble, Akeem Dent, Justin Houston and Marcus Dowtin.

Turenne decision came in response to highly touted defensive back and linebacker Malcolm Mitchell Ramik Wilson signed with the Bulldogs.

UPDATE: After the surprise engagement Turenne, the upper end tension in the country, Jay Rome, sent his papers in the offices of Georgia football. Rome, Mitchell’s teammate at Valdosta High School, was the latest big name to commit to the left edge of Georgia not signed Wednesday morning.

Rome is considered by many screening services are physical and athletic enough to compete immediately for playing time next season. FL linebacker Kent Turenne. I think Turenne is one of the steals of the class, as I will explain in an upcoming feature on him TMI. Turenne is also a good example of recruitment services that can go wrong in the assessment of the prospect, at least in the opinion of this blogger. Stay tuned for that. Turenne also confirms the commitment rule National Signing Day # 76: Never leave a recruit in a funny hat.

Cyrus Kouandjio, Sporting News Top 100 No. 1 overall player, was thought to be Alabama bound, like his brother Arie Kouandjio was already on the list Crimson Tide. But he pulled off the shocker of the national day of signing when he announced live on television that he would sign his letter of intent with Auburn. Until an official visit in late January, it was not Auburn on his short list of schools.

Cyrus Kouandjio (pronounced joe-Kwande), a 6-foot-7, 320 pounds of offensive linemen DeMatha would have reduced his choices to Alabama, Auburn, Iowa, Miami, New Mexico and USC. And no, it’s not a typo. New Mexico, a program and winning only two games over the past two seasons, remains one of his first choices.

The native of West Africa, who moved to the United States at the age of 4 years, said on several sites it is not leaning toward a school, but one would think should be high on Alabama his list because the brother Arie is a rookie offensive lineman for the Crimson Tide.
Cyrus Kouandjio of Hyattsville (MD) DeMatha High School will announce his college choice today that football players across the country begin signing letters of intent with colleges of their choice.

The 6-foot-7, Rivals.com and Scout.com consider 322-pounds Kouandjio the best offensive lineman in the country. Scout lists him as the second best player at any position. Rivals has him # 4.

Literally and figuratively, it would be the biggest signing in the history of Iowa.

Although Kouandjio is a former teammate and good friend of first-year Iowa running back Marcus Coker, the bridge seems to be stacked against the Hawkeyes.

The other two schools are considering Kouandjio teams that have won the last two national championships – Alabama and Auburn. His older brother, Arie, plays for Alabama. He recently visited Auburn the weekend and it is not uncommon for players to sign with the last place they visited. Although Kouandjio insists he is not deterred by the weather in Iowa, he suggested again that he would play in a college where the weather is hot.

Kouandjio did not provide many other tips regarding his recruitment. After his visit to Auburn, he planned to spend a few days considering his future before signing today.
