Brandon Marshall Trade

Brandon Marshall Trade, The Miami Dolphins have traded receiver Brandon Marshall to Chicago for two third-round draft picks, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer reported Tuesday. Neither team immediately confirmed the deal or commented on it.

Marshall, who was due $9.3 million, $9.1 million and $9.1 million in the next three years, did not fit the plans of new coach Joe Philbin.

Marshall caught 81 passes for 1,214 yards last season. He had six touchdown catches but also dropped at least five.

Trading him frees up some salary cap space but also creates a need for a No. 1 receiver.

The Dolphins’ space fell below $10 million earlier in the day after the team placed tenders on right tackle Lydon Murtha ($1.9 million) and Phillip Merling ($1.26 million) and also re-signed Austin Spitler and Jeron Mastrud for $540,000 apiece.

Though the Dolphins liked Marshall’s skill set, they grew frustrated with his behavior at times. Marshall also had a highly publicized domestic incident in which his wife was arrested. One player said last season that Marshall would behave strangely at times and also got away with behavior that other players would not.

The top available free agents include DeSean Jackson, Dwayne Bowe, Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon. His departure leaves Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, Clyde Gates, Marlon Moore and Roberto Wallace on the roster at receiver.
