Antonio Cromartie, (AFP) – Matt Hasselbeck passed for 272 yards and four touchdowns and Marshawn Lynch scampered 67 yards for a touchdown as the Seattle Seahawks upset defending Super Bowl Fields New Orleans 41-36.

The Seahawks overcame a deficit in early scoring 17 consecutive points in the first half of Saturday, NFC wild card playoff game at Qwest Field.

“We felt something special all week and today is a great start for us,” Hasselbeck said.

The victory in the playoffs opening round comes a week after Seattle became the winner of the National Football League first division with a losing record. The Seahawks won the NFC West this season with only seven wins and nine defeats in the regular season.

“I feel pretty calm right now,” said coach Pete Carroll Seattle. “We expected to win and in fact, it happened. I know it sounds crazy. ”

Late in the game, LaDainian Tomlinson scored two touchdowns and Nick Folk kicked the placement of the final set victory over the New York Jets edged Indianapolis 17-16 to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

The Seahawks held a 34-20 lead early in the fourth quarter before the Saints quarterback Drew Brees seemed ready to lead the Saints to a comeback.

But Lynch has helped shatter their hopes by breaking half-dozen tackles on a long run before scoring a touchdown with 3:22 left.

“I guess people will say it was more about what the Saints did not do and not what we have, or that the Saints have lost the game, not us, it’s win,” Seattle catcher Mike Williams.

“Everything he says is not important. What matters is the direction our team is inside the development and the guys in the locker room.”

Late in the game, Brees led the Saints on a 70-yard drive, throwing a touchdown pass to Devery Henderson for six yards. But the Saints have not scored on the attempt by two points, then a failed attempt to kick sideways.

Brees finished 39-of-60 for 404 yards and two touchdowns for New Orleans, who won a wild card spot with their 11-5 record but were forced to travel to Seattle, despite their excellent record.

The Seahawks will travel to play next weekend against either Atlanta or Chicago while the Jets have the difficult task of facing top-seeded New England next Sunday.

Folk scored a 32-yard field goal with three seconds left, lifting the Jets to a spectacular victory over the Colts in a contest sawtooth.

“I say to you it feels awesome,” Jets coach Rex Ryan said. “We’re on. Our offense had to pick up the defense. It was a dogfight. What a great feeling.

“We totally dominated the second half offensive on defense and we had to hold serve.”

The Jets got a measure of revenge against the Colts who beat them in the conference championship game last year.

Peyton Manning and the Colts appeared headed for a victory on Saturday when the wheels fell off the team bus.

Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri kicked a 50-yard field goal with 53 seconds left, giving the lead Indianapolis.

Antonio Cromartie Speedster returned the opening kickoff 47 yards and then Jets quart Mark Sanchez led his troops on a five-play, march 40 yards down the field.

Braylon Edwards leaped high to snare the catch of 18 yards along the margin to move the ball at the 14, and the Jets called a timeout with three seconds setting the stage for the winning shot Folk.

“It is emotional. Excited.” said Tomlinson. “Nobody thinks of us, but we believed in ourselves. We are very happy to spend.”
