Blackberry Internet Service Website, Local mobile operators are under pressure by the Indian government for access to BlackBerry e-mail The long running saga of whether to ban research in Motion BlackBerry service in India continues, with reports that the Indian government puts pressure on local mobile operators.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, a government official said the federal interior ministry in India is currently negotiating with local suppliers of telecommunications services to access corporate emails sent and received by RIM’s BlackBerry devices. The Indian government has imposed a deadline of January 31 for RIM to give him access to BlackBerry e-mails; on national security concerns that highly encrypted messages and BlackBerry e-mail makes it convenient for terrorists.

Do not do it, the government warned, would result in a ban on the RIM phone services in India.

(Reuters) – The government is in talks with cellular carriers to access to BlackBerry e-mail encrypted after the Canadian company has not complied with a deadline to make the service available to security agencies.

A Canadian manufacturer of smartphone Research In Motion (RIM) has failed to meet the Indian Claims monitor corporate mail encrypted by a deadline of 31 January. RIM had previously said he was confident India would not prohibit its services.

Last month, RIM said it had given India the means to access their mail service before the deadline, but reiterated that he could not give access to the authorities to monitor e secure Business-mails.

“We have nothing to do with Blackberry. We deal only with service providers (mobile phone),” Home Secretary GK Pillai told Reuters on Thursday.

“We will fix a date with them,” Pillai said, but declined to name a date. He did not provide further details.

The government has previously said it would force a shutdown of the courier company union if RIM does not give him access.

Last year, India demanded access to all the BlackBerry services in the context of efforts to combat threats against militancy and security on the Internet and telephone communications, demands echoed by several other countries have also tried, sometimes successfully, to limit the popular smartphone.

Indian authorities are now focusing on mobile operators offering BlackBerry services to its subscribers the fastest in the world on the mobile phone market growing.

Operators in India are required by law to meet the strict requirements of security and the government could force them to close the BlackBerry services or make other demands
