Big East Tournament Bracket, The Big East Tournament 2012 bracket is all set, with the Syracuse Orange the #1 seed. Now, fans of the #2 team, wait to see if their squad will run the table or get upset in this latest test before the “Big Dance.”

According to the 2012 tournament brackets for the Big East conference, Syracuse has a bye until 12PM Noon EST on Thursday, March 8th. That’s the quarterfinals of the tournament, where they await one of the teams which survives the first and second round matchups. It could mean either Connecticut or West Virginia, making a tough task for the Orange. Both teams were recently called “bubble teams” and would really love to get a win over Cuse, the #2 overall team in the NCAA field.

Syracuse currently has an impressive 30-1 mark overall, with a 17-1 record in conference play. They capped off the regular season with a victory over Louisville on Saturday. Their sole loss came at Notre Dame back on January 21st. Now they’ll need three wins in the Big East Tournament to capture the championship. Of note, both West Virginia and Connecticut, their potential quarterfinals opponents, lost to Syracuse during the regular season. However, two of those games, West Virginia on January 28th, and UCONN on February 25th, were close two point wins for the Orange.

With that in mind, both UCONN and West Virginia seem capable of defeating the Syracuse Orange in this year’s tournament. Whether or not one of these underdogs is the cinderella of the Big East Tournament 2012 bracket will remain to be seen. Syracuse may be ready to start putting teams away because they want to be ready for the bigger challenge, running through the NCAA tournament for their second title. For now, smart money seems to be on Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse squad to take the Big East, as he looks to prime them for the next phase of March Madness.
