Bar Exams, The two Ateneans who topped the 2011 Bar exams may well become among the most sought-after lawyers after their oath-taking on March 21.

But recognition has already found Bar-topper Raoul Angelo Atadero and No. 2 Luz Danielle Bolong well before the Bar results were announced on Wednesday.

On ANC’s “Primetime” on Wednesday, both confirmed that they have signed up with a law firm as early as their senior year at the Ateneo de Manila University.

“We officially signed up with Puno & Puno last March of 2011,” Bolong said.

“Usually, during our senior year, the top students get invitations for cocktails and dinners where the firms will try to recruit you. [That was] before we started reviewing for the bar exams, we hadn’t even graduated,” Atadero shared.

On how they came to decide on which firm to sign with, Atadero and Bolong said they had several factors to consider.

“I had an entire decision matrix for it. I had several weights for each factors,” Atadero said. “‘How’s the work load?’ ‘Where’s the location?’ ’Does this firm practice the area of law I like?’”

Bolong said she is most “comfortable” with remedial law and criminal law. On the other hand, Atadero is at ease with taxation.

Atadero acknowledged this area is one of the tougher subjects of law, but “loves” it nonetheless. Bolong was quick to add, in agreement to her schoolmate, “taxation loves him back.”
