Ashton Kutcher, Prolific Twitter personality Ashton Kutcher said Thursday he’s going to take a time-out from the popular social media network after he fumbled big-time Wednesday night.

The “Two and a Half Men” star’s decision to pipe down was made after he came to the defense of just-fired Penn State head coach Joe Paterno.

“How do you fire Jo Pa? As a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste,” Kutcher tweeted in a message hurled at Penn State officials. The tweet also included the hash tag-identified words of “insult” and “noclass.”

Kutcher’s message was later deleted from his @aplusk account but not before many of his 8 million followers were outraged by the remarks.

Paterno was fired Wednesday night in the midst of a scandal involving allegations of child sexual abuse against Jerry Sandusky, a former assistant coach at Penn State. Unfortunately for Kutcher, he wasn’t aware of the particulars of the news story that has rocked the campus and stunned the nation.

“Heard Joe was fired, fully recant previous tweet! Didn’t have full story,” Kutcher quickly backpedaled.
