Arkansas RazorbackArkansas Razorback, Expectations for the Arkansas Razorbacks defense has never been so high at the time of Bobby Petrino as they are in the 2011 season.

The No. 15 Hogs limited Missouri State Bears to only 163 total yards per game in 51-44 victories Saturday night at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

“Mission accomplished,” said head coach Bobby Petrino Arkansas. “We played football like it was supposed, was proud of our defense.”
Arkansas defense smothered true freshman is Missouri quarterback Kierra Harris. The Bears offense picked up just a first in the first half. The offense led by Harris gained 18 yards just before halftime.

“I was disappointed in the offensive in the first half, but probably stopped,” said head coach Terry Missouri State Allen. “So we went in the second half and came back and did the things we do and, obviously, executed a little better.”

Arkansas’ playmakers to put points in time and often. Junior quarterback Tyler Wilson hit a 33-yard pass to Wright Jarious for the first touchdown. Then, after a three and out Bears, Joe Adams returned a punt 61 yards for the score seconds. Freshman running back Kody Walker then scored from a yard late in the first quarter. Tight end Chris Gragg added another touchdown on a three-yard pass from backup quarterback Brandon Mitchell. Zach Hocker field goal at the end of the second half made the score 30-0.

Arkansas did not let the pedal in the third quarter. Jarious Wright called his second touchdown pass from Wilson. Then, Adams struck again. The height returned another punt 78 yards for a touchdown, so that several Missouri State is losing.

“I’ve never been involved in returning a type two,” Petrino said. “It’s a great athlete.”

Freshman Kody Walker added a second goal early in the fourth quarter.

Crime Arknasas’ amassed 466 total yards. Junior Tyler Wilson finished 18-24 for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Wright caught six passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

“I think Tyler was so under control as I have seen,” said offensive coordinator Garrick McGee. “For him, what had happened finally? He was the starting quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks.”

Missouri State scored late in the third quarter with a 33-yard pass to Jermain Saffold Kierra Harris. Harris finished 8-14 for 70 yards and a touchdown alone.

“I know a couple of works that was the reason I did not get the game right,” said freshman Harris Texarkana, Arkansas.

Principal Chris Douglas led the Bears with 81 yards rushing. Missouri State red-shirt freshman Mike Crutcher led the team with ten tackles. Sophomore and former Razorback Callendar Ryan added another eight tackles for the Bears.

Missouri State will travel to Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. The party is at 5:00 pm

Arkansas also hit the road, traveling to Little Rock to play New Mexico. Start is at 6:00 pm on ESPNU.
