Aol.com/mail, Unlike the Internet Apocalypse happens when Gmail goes down, AOL Mail has apparently been down for an hour today without fanfare and not a trend on Twitter.
ComScore, Gmail is about twice the size of AOL Mail (which is still nothing compared to Yahoo Mail to 94,603 unique visits per month) and the average age of a user’s AOL email is 65 +, which could explain the lack of buzz Twitter and Facebook.

We contacted our parent company for more information about the outage, and in the meantime you can follow on Twitter @ AOLMail for the latest updates on something that probably does not concern you anyway.

Update: Just checked my (G) mail and finds the following statement from AOL representative Kiersten Hollars, “It should be back up and we now consider the case.”

I’ll update this post again when I plug technique that went wrong with mail.aol.com. In the meantime, enjoy guys immortal words of Joni Mitchell, “You do not know what you have until it disappears.”
