Andy Murray TennisAndy Murray Tennis, Andy Murray has admitted he must improve if he wants to win a Grand Slam. Murray, 24, lost to Rafael Nadal in four sets in the U.S. Open, the third successive time when Scotland lost to Spanish in a Grand Slam semi.

“I have to improve,” said Murray. “I need to work on my game and get physically stronger.

“If you play the right way against Nadal can make him do the operation and make the game. But he did in the first two sets,” he added.

Murray, who fell 6-4, 6-2, 3-6 and 6-3, has won only two sets in his three Grand Slam semi-final defeats to Nadal this year.

“It’s always difficult to play Nadal, in my opinion is the greatest player to play tennis,” said the Scot.

“I was disappointed with the first two sets, but the third and fourth were better. I know the right tactics to play against Rafa but not implement them in the first two sets.

“It is very easy from the side to suggest what you should be doing out there – you should see some of his passing shots are many things I could have done a little better, but I did not.”.

However, Murray holds the belief that he can win a Grand Slam.

“If you want to judge someone’s entire career based purely on slams then I had had a terrible race, but I do not really feel like I have,” he said.

“There were things I did well and still I have three or four years that I’m playing my best tennis.”

Australian tennis legend Rod Laver believes that Murray has the talent to win a Grand Slam, but you have to make some fundamental changes in his game.

“Andy tends to play a wait and watch the game instead of taking the game to the adversary,” Laver told BBC Sportsweek program.

“He does not need a new coach for the production of blow, but perhaps to know how to play a particular opponent. This can help get Andy a Grand Slam.

“But Murray has not improved enough to beat Nadal. He plays good tennis and volley certainly good, but some points away from him. He does not play the important points as well as he can and should strengthen and the other player work harder to earn that point.

“He’s very capable of winning a Grand Slam.”

Laver, who won 11 Grand Slam titles, Nadal said he was “a great champion.”

“Nadal has proved to be so consistent and a great fighter and is difficult to break that. Murray played well, including a third good game, but Nadal is too difficult,” said the Australian.
