American Pickers Store, Dale Varnam’s unique collection of antique cars, buses, mannequins and items ranging from junk to art to antiques on Stone Chimney Road in Supply is practically a local landmark. Now, the site is about to gain national attention thanks to a visit from the “American Pickers” from the cable History channel.

On Friday morning, Varnam’s daughters, Amanda Gibson and Hope Tyndall, along with numerous family friends, waited outside the gates surrounding the property while some of the segments were filming.

Tyndall said her father was excited when the show’s “pickers” showed up to look through his unique collection and said they were looking for cars, motorcycle and anything “old.”

“There are some things we won’t let them take,” added Gibson, joking.

Varnam’s house and surrounding property is also the site of an annual Halloween party, where money is raised for needy families, according to family friend Stacie Walter.

The “American Pickers” are Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz of Antique Archaeology, an Iowa antique store.

According to the show’s website, the two earn their living restoring forgotten relics to their former glory, “transforming one person’s trash into another’s treasure.”
