Miss Arkansas 2011, (AP) – The youngest Miss America pageant since the implementation of age limits in 1938. Rosemary LaPlanche was vice-champion in 1940 and easily won the crown in 1941 despite being a month too young to compete, according to the website of the contest.

Scanlan said age did not matter that the parade celebrated its 90th birthday, if she thought that her age could have made her an outsider.

“We were on an equal footing,” she said. “From 17 to 24, which can be a huge age range. But with these girls, they are all at the highest level imaginable.”

Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady and 25,000 won as first runner-up, while Miss Hawaii Jale Fuselier and 20,000 won for third place.

Scanlan, a student recently graduated from the city in western Nebraska Gering, plans to study U.S. policy to Patrick Henry College in Virginia, after her reign as Miss America. Scanlan said she intended to defer his enrollment at the university until it ends its reign with the crown.

During the pageant on national television, Scanlan answered a question on Wikileaks by saying that the U.S. should focus on safety first.

“You know when he arrived at this situation, it was actually based on espionage, and when it comes to the security of our nation, we must focus on safety first, then the right of peoples to know, because it is so important that everyone who is secure our borders and we can not let things like this happen, and they must be handled carefully, “she said.

Scanlan said that the question was easier for her than generic, because it has regularly discussed current events with her family since she was young.

The candidates – all states and the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico – began the show by dancing up the aisles, while wearing cocktail dresses silver.

A panel of seven judges eyes to the appearance and fitness. The competition included an evening gown, talent and interview the parties, with the elimination of 15 finalists, then 12, then 10, five and finally the winner along the path.

The judges selected the three best players over Miss Oklahoma Emoly West Ashley Melnick Miss Texas, Miss Rhode Island Deborah Saint-Vil, Miss Utah Christina Lowe, Miss Washington Jacquie Brown, Miss Arizona Kathryn Bulkley, Miss Virginia Uze Caitlin and Miss California Arianna Afsar.

Fans voted Miss New York and Miss Claire Buffie Delaware Kayla Martell.

And in a twist for the first contest, young women have chosen two finalists themselves, Miss Kentucky and Miss Oregon Djuan Trent Stephenie Steers Denise.

In his introduction to the audience, Bulkley dedicated his performance to U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot in the head last week in Tucson. Bulkley Giffords called his mentor.

The Miss America Organization bills itself as the provider of the country’s largest scholarship for women, and 349,000 in prizes this year at the national level.

Jalee Fuselier, Miss Hawaii Jale Fuselier”a won the lifestyle and fitness in the pageant for Miss America 2011 in Las Vegas last week. The 22-year Hawaii Pacific University graduate Haleiwa receive a scholarship in 1000 and his victory. Miss North Carolina, Adrienne Core won the talent competition.

The finals of the scholarship competition and community service will broadcast 20 hours on KITV Saturday. “We are very proud of the initial success of our representative in the pageant,” said Miss Hawaii Organization President Lincoln Jacobe. “Jale has worked very hard to achieve this success and has accomplished much to date and we continue to support it during this week of competition.”

Fuselier is the founder of Hawaii U.S. Dream Academy, which awards scholarships to students for community service. She participated in community services in 21 countries and 10 states, including helping build homes for orphans in Uganda through volunteering in Thailand after the 2004 tsunami deaths.

Margaret Gorman, At 17, Nebraska became the youngest winner of the Miss America crown in 90 years Saturday after beating 52 other young women from across the United States.

Teresa Scanlan won a scholarship and a race to 50,000 a year with the crown competition at Planet Hollywood Casino Resort in Las Vegas, giving Nebraska its first victory in the pageant.

She was the youngest Miss America competition since the first contest in 1921, when “Margaret Gorman,”the District of Columbia, won in 15 years.

Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady and 25,000 won as first runner-up, while Miss Hawaii Jale Fuselier and 20,000 won for third place.

She also hopes to study law, become a judge and possibly a politician, according to her biography contest.

Scanlan won after strutting in a black bikini and a white evening gown and played “White Water Ground Sticks” on the piano.

Colin Firth Unveils Hollywood sidewalk stars “King’s Speech” Golden Globe nominee Colin Firth has become a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The British actor has revealed her sanctuary sidewalk Thursday in front of the Pig AND Whistle pub on Hollywood Boulevard. This is the 2429th star on the Avenue of dedicated dreams.

Firth has already received a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for her role as King George VI in “The King’s Speech”, and is also a favorite for a nod Oscar. Oscar nominations will be announced Tuesday, Jan. 25.

The 50-year-old Firth was nominated Best Actor at the Oscars, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards last year for her performance in “A Single Man.”

Firth film credits include “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” “Shakespeare in Love,” “The English Patient” and “Mama Mia!”

Grammar said he remarry next month

NEW YORK – Kelsey Grammar said he plans to remarry next month.

The 55-year-old “Cheers” and “Frazier” star said on “Late Show With David Letterman” CBS ‘Thursday night, he married Kayte Walsh.

He said that “Kayte my girlfriend” and they would marry “in February, we think.”

His wife of nearly 13 years, Camille Grammar, filed for divorce in July. She cited irreconcilable differences.
