Nhra, Five times world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. Drag Racing has announced that he will not return to Pro Stock in 2011. One of the most prolific drivers in NHRA history, Coughlin envisions a less hectic schedule of events in a variety of sports car racing in 2011, renouncing the demand for 22-days of professional racing circuit.

“We took over 2006 off to do so to take a break from everything,” the 40-year Coughlin said. “We did a lot of support races for top dollar and select Sportsman Lucas Oil Series, here and there no specific timetable in mind. We just ran a little when we wanted and it was great fun. This is the direction I’m heading now.

“When the chance to return to Pro Stock was introduced in late ’06 we sat down and thought about the goals that we could go back if we do. We knew we wanted to pass the mark of 50 victories. We realized that. We wanted to be able to fight for the championship every year, and we won two more since our return. And we really wanted to honor our father and the family business on the 50th anniversary of GEC which took place throughout this season.

“My career turned out better than I could have ever imagined. I feel so fortunate to have raced with the people I raced with and have won races and championships; we won the yellow and black. It has been a phenomenal round, and it’s not over by any means. I was going Mach II with my hair on fire since the early 90s and I kind of want to take a deep breath. ”

To date, Coughlin has won four Pro Stock (2000, 2002, 2007 and 2008) and 52 Pro Stock national event trophies to go with a World Championship Super Gas (1992) and 14 other national victories sporting event.

Besides its own efforts to come race, Coughlin plans to serve as a seaman of his fiance Samantha Kenny and his nephew Troy Coughlin Jr., who both run Super Comp. It also plans to support the efforts of racing Brothers John, Troy, Mike and their families.

“I am also very pleased to have the time to go to more tournaments golf Jegge my son. He is so passionate about the sport and it is quite become the golfer. I look forward to watching his development continues.

“I also want to clarify that I’m not racing pro level. I was approached and I think some of the possibilities. I have no idea what the future holds. I just know for the moment, I want to sit back and relax a little. ”
