Craig Allen had a better Holliday September – October and better, too. Speaking after Holliday was removed from the roster of the World Series
with a bruised right wrist, Craig, 27 years old, was cleared Friday night hit his fourth homer of the postseason and saved a run with a leaping catch at the left field wall Nelson Cruz robbed of a homer.

St. Louis won the title with a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers in Game 7.

“Homer was nice. Capture was better. I’ve never done that before,” said Craig.

In Game 6, Craig intervened after Holliday was injured diving into the third to get intercepted and homered in the eighth inning to power the first of two comebacks in the Cardinals’ wild 10-9 victory in 11 innings .

Craig was one of the most productive hitters in the World Series team with three homers and five RBIs.

“I wish everyone in the country might come to know these guys,” he said. “It’s amazing. I’m happy to be part of it.”

Craig made only 47 starts during an injury-plagued season, but was productive when he had the opportunity, batting .315 and raise his game with a .327 average during the last month.

Holliday, hampered by injuries down the stretch, he batted .254 in September. Was 3 to 19 (0158) World Series with no RBIs.
