All My Children, JR Martínez-star of ABC’s Emmy award-winning drama “All My Children” and wounded warrior has signed on to be the spokesperson for “rehabilitate the troops”, a virtual rehabilitation program, sponsored by the Armed Forces that insurance warriors wounded in combat working out through the webcam with professional athletes with a Nintendo Wii.

“JR is a veteran of the Army and was seriously wounded in combat, so he knows exactly what these wounded warriors are happening,” said Colonel Tom Dials (U.S. Army, Ret.) Chairman of the Armed Forces Insurance. “He fought hard to recover and came to achieve amazing things, we are proud he has decided to join the program.”

In 2003, Martinez suffered serious burns over 40 percent of his body while serving as an infantryman in Iraq. After a long and difficult recovery, now travels throughout the United States serving as a motivational speaker, sharing a message of strength and optimism in the face of enormous challenges to the veterans groups, schools, corporations and other organizations. Since late 2008, Martinez has played the role of Brot Monroe on “ABC All My Children.”

“This program is so important, that it raises awareness of the challenges faced by wounded warriors, while giving each participant a source of motivation and purpose of work toward,” Martinez said. “I am honored to participate.”

Martinez’s first season working with wounded warriors and speak at lunch on the final event of the program in New Orleans on August 21, when the troops will receive prizes and see the house in New Orleans Saints first preseason game at the Superdome Louisiana.

Rehabbing professionals with troops NFL Wounded Warrior Help Recover
Since June 10, 22 wounded warriors took part in weekly training sessions as part of the first season of his rehabilitation with the troops, a rehabilitation program of 10 weeks which was developed by Pro vs. GI Joe, in collaboration with the Service Organizations United (USO) and Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and sponsored by Armed Forces Insurance (AFI, www.afi.org).

Season the program began June 10 when the Warriors traveled to the installation TRACK Wounded Warrior Project in Jacksonville, Florida, to solve interactively with the New Orleans Saints live via webcam. wounded warriors and members of the New Orleans Saints team gathered in front of flat screen televisions provided by Best Buy for exercise with a Nintendo Wii and webcam. Pro vs GI Joe partnered with Wounded Warrior Project to develop customized training through specific exercises within the EA Sports title Active.

During the first season, each wounded warrior has participated in several rehabilitation sessions per week at home while documenting their journey on the website of Wounded Warrior Arena (www.woundedwarriorarena.org), Twitter and Facebook. A season is being filmed by two veterans of Iraq military journalist who created a series of documentaries and upload to the website Wounded Warrior Arena in celebration of the first season. The documentary is produced by Thomas Bramble, creator and producer of television programs the Pentagon Iraq Freestyle.
