Alan JacksonAlan Jackson, Alan Jackson “Where Were You (When the world stopped turning)” bundle of thoughts and feelings of millions of people after the terrorist attacks of 9 / 11 to music. The chorus and the melody came to Alan in the middle of the night for several weeks after 9 / 11. He woke up, sang the songs into a tape recorder and wrote the chorus, then completed the lyrics and verses later that day. Ten years later, the song is as relevant as it was when Alan was released during the CMA Awards that year.

“At that time, was very meaningful to people and I felt really good to contribute something,” said Alan. “And then I thought just fade away and then we would have the ease of the series, but now I see people out there that I feel is expected of that song, you know I think it’s more than just the connection 9.11.’S ie, the real hooks citing the right of the Bible anyway. And yet, at night, is one of my biggest songs in the show. It’s hard to follow, but I see many, who are keeping lighters and were glad to hear that, and I think that move for him and glad I did. ”

The song paints images of Americans shared moments after the attacks. Dusting Bibles, realizing sunsets and the cry of those lost are just some of the lines in the song of Alan that people identify as their own reaction to 9 / 11.

“I had many people tell me that there is always a line or something there that they did, whether it was going to church or pick up your Bible, or go see his mother or watch a sunset,” said Alan. “I mean, just a lot of things that people said that things had come true, so … I think it was like everyone else, just feel the same feelings.”

Performing a song for the first time is never easy for an artist, but when it comes to a subject like 9 / 11, it is much harder to do. Alan had mixed emotions when he played the song on the CMA Awards that year.

“It was a hard act for me,” he said. “You know, the idea of?? Releasing that song was a bit harsh. I was not sure he wanted to put that, but everyone convinced me that was the thing to do … and in retrospect, I agree with that. ”

Alan will help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 9 / 11 when performed “Where Were You (When the world stopped turning)” in a Concert of Hope, to be held at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC on September 11. President Obama will also speak at the event.
