Alabama Vs Tennessee 2011Alabama Vs Tennessee 2011, A slow first half did little to help with the numbers this week, but we usually totally beat another opponent while preparing for LSU. Highlights:

Although the total number of casualties first trended downward for the first time since conference play began, more than tripled our opponent 19-6.

The efficiency of the Third has shown a downward trend over the past three weeks, which is a little disconcerting, especially since it was effective in the third down and keep the units is going to be a key factor in two weeks. 50% is not bad, and helps carry out UT with only 14% in the third down, but after leading by 60% the past two weeks that he hoped would be able to continue at that level, especially against a weak defense like Tennessee. These numbers are somewhat skewed by the end of the game, however. We were 3-7 (43%) in the first half and 7.4 (57%) in the second, but the third factoring two unsuccessful attempts by the end of the trip unit after the game was well in hand and ultimately went for the 4 below we were 4 of 5 when it mattered.

Yards total plummeted from last week’s win over Ole Miss, but the 437 meters is still more than they earned in the rest of our conference games, it’s not a bad number.

Passing yards took a big leap this week with 294 total yards, our best effort so far in the game of the conference and just five yards behind our best effort of the season, 299 yards against Kent State. In addition, 10.5 yards per pass is upper middle of the season. We talked a lot about A.J. McCarron to be a “game manager” in recent weeks, and I think its becoming clear that while we want to fit that role in the offense, we have opened the passing game more and more because of him. I think the OTS said it best in the Time Radio this week to talk about the quarterbacks who have been recruiting, that is, not looking for a QB management game, we are looking for a star quarterback will of a game if that’s all we need to do, but has the ability to open up the offense when needed. That’s what we’ve seen in recent weeks with McCarron, and I personally believe that, at a similar point in the season, which is light years beyond where McElroy was in his first season as a starter (09). Remember, McElroy had bottomed out strongly against South Carolina and was just starting to dig your way out of it, and its inability to create anything in the air was one of the reasons we needed two blocked FGS Terrence Cody to survive . Tennessee’s team was much better than what we faced yesterday, but the fact is McCarron has steadily improved as the weeks pass, while McElroy is necessary adjustment period once started genuine defense against SEC .

Everything that comes in the air of yesterday is a rather hard for the numbers in the soil. This was our worst performance on the ground to date, UT outrush actually getting in the first half 61 yards-35 yards. We piled on 108 yards in the second half and held the Vols to only 31, but the 3.8 ypc is close to a season (only 3.6 against Vandy, an effort to slow in the first half, it was worse) . We can write this as an effort to slow and hang his hat on the numbers in the second half, but it’s still just do not want to see.

Finally, given a turnover for the first time since conference play began, but the defense stayed on the track with two take take of your own to get in turnover margin against opponents 9 SEC.
