Aksel Svindal-USsPost.comAksel Svindal | USsPost.com:Alpine ski racing Friday saw a very tight men’s Super-G, a spectacular crash, and a second medal for Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal. Norway’s Marit Bjoergen won her second gold medal of the Games, this one in women’s 15k cross country pursuit.

Svindal won the gold medal in men’s Super-G Friday, edging out Americans Bode Miller and Andrew Weibrecht, who won silver and bronze. Svindal’s time was 1:30.34; Miller was 0.28 seconds behind that, and Weibrecht 0.03 seconds behind Bode.

“It was good but it’s hard to talk about perfect,” Svindal said.

“The times were unbelievably close together and that’s unusual,” Miller said. “It’s really unusual to be just on the very front side of six guys all within one tenth of a second.”

Svindal won a silver medal in downhill on Monday.

Swedish ski racer Patrik Jaerbyn, 41, crashed on the men’s Olympic Super-G after clipping a gate on Friday. He was airlifted off the mountain by helicopter.

Bjoergen won the women’s 15k cross country pursuit. Sweden’s Anna Haag won the silver, and Poland’s Justyna Kowalczyk won bronze. Bjoergen, 28, from Trondheim, posted a time of 39 minutes 58.1 seconds. Haag was 8.9 seconds behind her, and Kowalczyck wa 0.4 seconds behind Haag.

Bjoergen won gold in the women’s individual sprint classic on Wednesday, and bronze in women’s 10k freestyle cross country on Monday.

Skiing and snowboarding medal events scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20 are: Women’s Super G; Ski Jumping, Large Hill; and Men’s 30k Pursuit Cross Country.
