Airfare SaleAirfare Sale, Rising fuel costs and a stronger economy could lead to the average rate of up to 15 percent this summer for U.S. travelers, a travel expert said.

“We are definitely getting higher rates and more and more. They have been going once or twice a month, a dime here and there,” the Los Angeles Times quoted Tom Parsons BestFares.com saying.

Parsons said the cheapest available round-trip ticket from Los Angeles to Frankfurt, Germany, in early May 1067 and was this year, compared with 499 for the same week two years ago.

Airlines are aiming to fuel costs as the main reason for the frequent price increases. Jet fuel costs 49 percent more than it did 12 months ago, the newspaper said.

“At the end of the day, airlines are trying to keep pace with the rising cost of doing business,” said Steve Lott, spokesman for the Air Transport Association.

The average price of a ticket on a domestic flight and could reach 390 this summer, over 302 and in the summer of 2009, industry analysts.

Experts said that international flights with the largest price increases.
