Air France Strike

Air France Strike, Air France canceled one in five flights today after cabin crew stopped work for a second day to protest the conditions of employment.

To prevent so many planes in the air as possible in the middle of a busy holiday period, the airline limited many short-haul passengers only 100 so that the staff met safety requirements. That meant that many planes were running with empty seats as people turned away.

Several unions are asking cabin crew to strike until the end of Wednesday. One of his complaints is a plan to reduce staff on long trips.

The company dismissed nine long-haul flights to destinations such as Tokyo, New York and Abu Dhabi, but provides only half as many cancellations on long haul routes for the future.

Tuesday is a holiday in France and many take the day off tomorrow to extend the weekend. It also falls during school holidays mid-term.

Interruption in the main Paris airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly, merely a measure of advance warning that 20 percent of the approximately 1,000 flights a day would be scrapped.

The airline has said that the protest is incomprehensible in a statement over the weekend reported that he had been “hijacked” at a time as busy.

Some travelers interviewed by local television stations said the train back, while others said they expect the hope that it would be able to return by air in the coming days.

Government Minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet criticized the unions, particularly at the time.

“Air France is in a delicate position,” he told Europe 1 radio in an interview. She said she hopes to leave itself in a night flight to Israel for government affairs.

Shares of Air France-KLM, which is due to publish its financial results for the November 9, received a blow this week when the media said it was preparing to issue a profit warning. The airline said last Tuesday, in response to the report of the media that is unwilling to publish any financial information prior to November 9.

Air France-KLM, Europe’s biggest airline, when measured by revenue, was formed in 2004 by the merger of Air France and KLM Dutch company. The crackdown applies only to the French part of the operation.

Another airline in the world, Qantas Airways of Australia has grounded its entire fleet in a bitter labor dispute that led to the cancellation of 447 flights over the weekend, compared with about 400 cancellations of flights Air France in the same period.
