Adrienne Maloof Sacramento Kings, Adrienne Maloof enjoyed a night on the town on May 11, 2011. The business-savvy beauty attended the “Southern Style” event presented by the St. Bernard Project and the Spears family. (As in Britney.) Proceeds from the event will go toward the rebuilding efforts after Hurricane Katrina. We’re not surprised to see Adrienne out supporting a good cause!

In this week’s episode, RHoBH star Adrienne Maloof defies her husband Paul’s wishes and goes to the Sacramento Kings’ season-ending game despite the threat of danger from ticked off fans. Adrienne explains that it’s her team, it’s their final game, and she doesn’t care if drinks go flying (“It wouldn’t be the first time…”). But what exactly is the story behind the Sacramento Kings debacle?

We know this much: Adrienne Maloof’s family have owned the Kings for the past 12 years. According to the Kings’ website, her family business, Maloof Companies, has holdings that include not just the Kings, but also the WNBA’s Sacramento Monarchs.

LA Late recently reported that the Kings were in talks of moving to Anaheim for the 2012-2013 season — which includes a possible name change for the team.

What led to all of this, you ask? In an interview with USA Today, Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson explained that a few years back, the NBA was looking into providing the team with a new sports complex, adding, “It’s not just about the Kings. It’s not just about these owners. It’s really about job creation and quality of life for our community.”

The Maloofs were given a March 1, 2011, deadline to finance a deal for the new sports complex. If all goes according to plan, the Kings stay. If not, all roads lead to Anaheim.

Either way, if the new Kings complex is approved before the 2012 deadline, there’s no telling how long it could take to design, but Johnson believes no sooner than 2015.
