Adele Responds, Adele has responded to fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld’s recent comment which stated that he thought she was “too fat”.

In an interview with People magazine, the ’21’ singer said: “I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.”

Lagerfeld, who is head of the fashion house of Chanel, said earlier this week (February 7) that although Adele had “divine voice”, she was “a little too fat”, although he did add that he preferred her to Lana Del Rey and Florence And The Machine’s Florence Welch.

Lagerfeld went on to apologise for his comments, claiming he is one of the singer’s biggest fans. In an interview with Metro New York he said: “I’d like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought.”

He went on to add: “She is my favourite singer and I am a great admirer of her. I lost over 30 kilos over 10 years ago and have kept it off. I know how it feels when the press is mean to you in regards to your appearance.” Lagerfeld also described Adele as a “beautiful girl” and said he was looking forward to hearing her next album.

Adele is set to make her live return at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles this weekend (February 12), which will be her first performance since she went under the knife in America last November to have vocal chord microsurgery in order to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp, and shelved all of her remaining live dates of 2011.
