Voletta Wallace Wrongful Death Lawsuit LAPD, Amidst the bevy of news stories this weekend was one that involves what many consider to be one of the best rappers of all time. On Friday, the wrongful death lawsuit filed in 2002 by the mother of the Notorious B.I.G against the Los Angeles Police Department was thrown out of court.

The Notorious B.I.G was shot dead in L.A in 1997. Like the death of his friend turned rival Tupac Shakur in 1996, conspiracy theories have swirled around the death of B.I.G, whose real name is Christopher Wallace. His mother, Voletta Wallace, placed a large portion of her son’s death at the doorstep of L.A. city officials and the LAPD, filing a lawsuit against them eight years ago.

Since that time, the case has had its share of ups and downs for Ms. Wallace. In March 2006, U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper ruled in favor of the Wallace family, awarding them a $1.1 million dollar judgment. The judgment was reversed two months later.

The case finally returned to court earlier this year, but was dismissed without prejudice by federal court Judge Jacqueline Nguyen.
