2012 Chinese New Year, The year of the Dragon starts today as the Chinese starts to celebrate the Chinese New Year 2012. For the next 15 days the Chinese will celebrate the year of the Dragon. If you are in China during the Chinese New Year 2012 Celebrations you will be amazed by the fireworks, Cultural performances and the Dragon Displays.

Part of the Chinese celebrations involves parents, grand parents and or relatives giving children small red little envelopes with money inside. The Cinese New Year 2012 is not only celebrated in China, Some of the big cities in the US also celebrates the Cinese New Year and you will find celebrations in Los Angeles, Toronot, Vancouver, San Francisco and New York.

Unlike the western New Year the Chinese New Year does not fall on the same day for the Chinese. The Chinese New Year 2012 start this year on the 22th January 2012. In the Chinese Zodiac there is 12 Animals representing the different years. The Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig, Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit represents the different Chinese years.

The year of the Dragon is a very special year for the Chinese. It is also the only imaginary animal in the Chinese Zodiac. In western civilizations a Dragon usually represents fierce creatures that are slain by knights. The dragon is also a symbol of power, strength, and good luck. With this, the Emperor of China usually uses the dragon as a symbol of his imperial power.
