2011 Pga Championship2011 Pga Championship, Today is the beginning of the finale of the PGA Championship week, the golf season 2011. I am in Atlanta looking forward to my busiest week of the year PGA.

I arrived Sunday afternoon and set up camp at the Atlanta Athletic Club (AAC) and the Grand Hyatt Atlanta Buckhead. Arriving yesterday afternoon, I attended a briefing officer for the PGA, which includes a variety of topics such as selling tickets, court conditions, media spots, the state of the audio and review of our times a week.
Last night I attended a reception at the discretion of the President AAC. Today we have a junior golf clinic. Tonight we attend the world premiere of the film Seven Days in Utopia, starring Robert Duvall. The film is about a boy who decides to become a PGA professional teaching and many of our members are used to authenticate on the set of golf in the film.

Tuesday will find me attending a meeting of the Board of Honor Foundation folds early in the morning. I have the privilege of serving on this Board with the highest Dan Rooney, the founder of Patriot Day golf that raises money for families of wounded or killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Later tomorrow, I will refer to 80 women in Golf Get Ready, the program that I have served as national spokesperson. After that, attend a luncheon Government Relations presented by the Governor of Georgia.

Later Tuesday afternoon we met with representatives of the Canadian PGA. We continue with a reception hosted by the PGA AAC Georgia. Finally, Tuesday night I’ll be in the Champions Dinner the PGA, with many of the previous winners of this tournament, including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, Davis Love III, John Daly, Shaun Micheel, Mark Brooks, David Toms, Rich Beem, Doug Ford, Padraig Harrington, Paul Azinger, YE Yang and Martin Kaymer, the defending champion.

My Wednesday begins at 6:30 am with a meeting of the Rules Committee. Later in the morning will attend a Board meeting and then go to the AAC for our State of the Association. I had lunch with Amy Wilson, wife of Mark twice winner. Amy is the president of the wives of the PGA Tour and we are discussing the cookbook that women are arming themselves, which launched in 2013, when I am President of the PGA.

Wednesday night’s ceremony Distinguished Service Award. The winner of this year will be Larry Nelson, a champion of three to win the U.S. Open and two PGA Championships. Nelson also accumulated an impressive Ryder Cup record 9-3-1. He is a native of Atlanta and has done many things for charity benevolent throughout the country. Nelson was a Vietnam veteran who do not play golf until age 21. He broke 100 the first time he played and several months after the couple broke!

Thursday morning found me doing a radio interview on Sirius / XM at 10:30 am at the Atlanta Athletic Club. 1st round of the PGA begins. In the afternoon I attend the meeting of the Finance Committee of the PGA, which I co-president. At the end of the day, I do a season at 4:30 pm with coverage on PGA.com and live web streaming of the PGA Championship.

We cap the day with a private dinner CBS, which is attended by officials from the PGA and CBS talent. This is a matter of deer permit any link and a lot of great stories from the likes of Sean McManus, president of CBS Sports, Jim Nantz, Nick Faldo, Vern Lundquist, Ian Baker Finch, Gary McCord, Peter Kostis and Barrow Lanza executive producer of CBS Sports.

Friday starts at 6 am as we head to South Country Club and our golf tournament PepsiCo. This occupies most of the day and concludes with a reception at the Atlanta Athletic Club night.

Saturday is the day we really will have the opportunity to watch some golf on the field. My only commitment is an interview during the day to 11 hours for video highlights of the PGA Championship. I will choose a group to follow after that and walk 18 holes as an observer in the group. Saturday evening will attend a dinner for international broadcasters.

Sunday will begin at 9 am with a rehearsal of the ceremony at the 18th green. My major task for the week announcing the end of the five groups the first tee from 1:50 to 14:40 This sounds easy, but I’ll be wired for sound on CBS. This means I’ll have ear pieces and will receive instructions on when to announce the players to the T for the control truck on CBS. Trust me, the idea of ??leaving a legacy that will never forget with a blunder ever crosses your mind when he announced before a live television audience.

Early Sunday afternoon, which will be placed in the hole 18 to present the Wanamaker Trophy. In the last three years I have been literally a few meters from some of the largest in the history of the PGA Championship as the drama ended on the last hole.

In 2008, the group announced entering the 18th hole at Oakland Hills. I sat quietly about 25 feet when he made the putt Harrington winner to defeat Sergio Garcia. In 2009, I witnessed great second shot at Hazeltine Yang as Tiger Woods took the first significant dent in his armor. Last year, I painfully watched Dustin Johnson will receive the ruling him out of the playoffs with Kaymer and Bubba Watson after his club ground in a bunker on the final hole. Then I saw the enthusiasm of German Kaymer holing the winning putt.

My best memory of last year was shaking hands with Watson after just lost the PGA and hear him say: “Sure, I wanted to win. But I’m on the team in the Ryder Cup now.”

Who knows what this week will bring. Americans have not won a major championship since Phil grabbed the green jacket at Augusta in 2010. Winless in the last six largest are the Yankees. This is the first time in a decade and a half the four best players in the world are American.

The PGA Championship has produced some surprise winners U.S. and Micheel, Beem and Brooks. A little-known Bob May took Tiger to the wire in the Valhalla. However, in the last seven years has been the likes of Woods (2), Mickelson, Harrington, Singh, Kaymer and Yang have won. There is no doubt that Yang was a surprise in 2009.

Predict the winner of a PGA Tour event in 2011 has been an exercise in futility. Steve Stricker, Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar would be popular winners of America. Bubba could win this week. Jason Day of Australia is the best player of the year in the majors. Phil and Tiger have become emotional long shots. The PGA Championship has been called “last shot of glory” and that seems quite appropriate in 2011. I hope you will take to Atlanta this week.
