2011 College Bowl Predictions, The Purdue Boilermakers evened their record at 6-6 on the season, 4-4 in Big Ten play, when they beat the Indiana Hoosiers 33-24 on Saturday to bring home the Old Oaken Bucket.

The Boilers also brought home that critical sixth win of the season that makes them bowl eligible for the first time since 2007. Just where the Boilers end up during the bowl season remains up in the air with ten Big Ten teams qualifying for bowl eligibility. The league normally has eight bowl slots to place teams but there should be room for the two additional teams thanks to other conferences not having enough eligible teams.

While Purdue slipped in on the last day of the regular season, their case to be among the those top eight teams is pretty strong. Four Big Ten teams (Purdue, Ohio State, Illinois, Northwestern) finished the season with a 6-6 record. Of those four teams, Purdue has the best conference record at 4-4. Ohio State and Northwestern finished 3-5 in conference while Illinois limped to the finish with a 2-6 conference record.

According to the latest projections by College Football News, the Boilers will take the Big Ten No. 6 slot in the Ticket City Bowl to play Iowa State on January 2nd in Dallas.

CFN projects the Louisville Cardinals to the Belk Bowl against N.C. State on December 27th in Charlotte, NC. But the Cardinals remain alive for a serious upgrade after beating South Florida 34-24 on Saturday. The win moved Louisville to 7-5 on the season but the team finished their regular season winning five of their last six Big East games to remain tied for first place in the conference.

If Cincinnati loses to Connecticut next week and West Virginia loses to South Florida, then Louisville will be headed to a BCS bowl as the Big East champs. Currently, West Virginia is projected to hold on to win the Big East and play in the Orange Bowl.
