Bountiful High School Chemical Bomb Arrests, TWO high school students have been arrested for allegedly setting off four homemade bombs across a northern Utah city, including one inside their high school, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Bountiful High School was locked down for nearly two hours after the chemical bomb exploded in the stairway of the school’s foyer at approximately 8:20am local time. The blast did not hurt anyone, but the small device released hydrochloric acid, according to Bountiful Police Sgt. Gary Koehn.

The 18-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl threw the bombs at random because they “wanted to hear the loud boom,” Koehn said, adding the students did not intend for the explosions to hurt anyone.

Three other bombs exploded at locations near the school, about 10 miles north of Salt Lake City, including one that detonated in a church parking lot.

The teens told police they used instructions they found on the internet to make the bombs, which were made from water bottles and contained household items, Koehn said, according to The Tribune.
