SAINT MARK’S SYRTAKI OF BOCA is part of the Saint Mark Greek Orthodox Church Community in Boca Raton, Florida. The group was founded in 1993, and since that time  many friends and families have enjoyed countless performances of traditional Greek Folk Dancing. They have several groups of dancers ranging from 10 years old and to the college years and beyond. In addition, they have a performing group that has mastered many of the basic Greek Folk Dances, and also perform many advanced variations as well as the more difficult Dances. The Performing Group takes this a step further by traveling to various locations not only to learn advanced steps, but to perform competitively as well.

Greece is one of the few countries in the world where the folk dances are as alive today as they were in ancient times. Dance has always played an important role in the life of a Greek. It is an expression of human feelings and everyday life and almost every dance has a story to tell.
