Survivor South Pacific, Russell Hantz cannot be part of the new season of Survivor … but it is his nephew. 19 years old, Brandon Hantz is one of the 16 new contestants competing for the million dollars when Survivor: South Pacific begins Wednesday, September 14 on CBS.
Among the players joining him is a former Miss America contestant, a country singer, a player Lingerie Football League, and the owner of a medical marijuana dispensary. However, these players not only have to fight each other. You also need to have two returning players, whose names will be revealed later in the week.
Besides the two returning players, two new contestants who already have experience in reality television. Country singer Whitney Duncan was fifth in the fifth season of Nashville Star, while former Miss Washington Elyse Umemoto appeared in Miss America: Reality Check, the TLC reality show that accompanied the Miss America 2008, which Umemoto was the second finalist. (Later, he had to deal with some controversy arose after photos of the party and making sexually suggestive poses Umemoto). Other notable participants include occupations lingerie football player (and Pl**yboy cover girl) Mikayla Wingle and a medical marijuana dispensary owner Jim Rice.
However, viewer’s will undoubtedly focused on the candidate’s last name Hantz. “If I played, it could be, Brandon Russell is the opposite,” says host Jeff Probst. “I mean, it seems a really nice guy – a young boy who is definitely a little rough, but good manners, good thinker. Although for a time his love was to be Russell, and the last time, said ‘you know what, I’ve been thinking about this. That cannot be a good idea to let people know I am related. ”
Filmed in Samoa (the same location for stations 19 and 20), Survivor: South Pacific will also feature a few changes to the format. The first involves the hidden immunity idols. “This year’s hidden immunity idol and we are hiding the track,” says Probst. “I have no idea where he is the key. Once you find the key, then you have to find the idol” And while the island of redemption money is back, there will be a major change in him, with the elimination of group duels -. Meaning of each competition will truly be a win-or-go home situation (compared to last season, in which players often simply do not have to come in the past to stay alive). “We will have several duels person,” says Probst. “That was part of the experiment [last season]. Wanted to see how many people might have in the game until the end. And that’s why we allow more people live there. But we feel that a lot of people and now we have half of group still in it at the end. It will only be a one on one situation. Loser out winner-takes. Otherwise, we’re playing the same way. “
