Superbowl Appetizers, The match-up for the Super Bowl XLV is activated, and if a trip to our sister city namesake in Arlington, TX has been ruled out, then it’s time to make plans to hit Velocity Five here in Arlington. There you can enjoy the special chow on game day and a selection of time honored American beers at this unique American “holiday.”
With an HD 25 and HD projector TV in the restaurant area, Velocity Five will be granted in every day highlights and behind the scenes look at the sights, sounds, parties and food for the big game and the preparations to enter. Located just above the metro station Palais de Justice on the orange line, V5 has three sister sites Merrifield, Centerville and Sterling.
Manager Billy Collins is no newcomer to the sports scene, bringing the qualities of leadership he has earned as recipient of the University of Pennsylvania NCAA Division 1 baseball team in his professional role at a speed five. “I have no tracks in the family, we can say,” said Collins. “My father played baseball up to Triple A with the Milwaukee Brewers and my grandfather played in the majors for Cleveland Indians after serving in World War II. ”
“I’m a fan of Skins technically, but as they rarely make the playoffs, I used to spend my allegiance to Green Bay to engage with my roommate and frat brother of U of Penn,” said Collins.
But you will not find a way to Green Bay this Sunday to speed tailgate pre-game Super Bowl kick-off party, a continuous flow selection of projects for the mixture of great Steelers and Packers fans, including: Bud Light, Miller Lite, Yuengling, Blue Moon, Stella, Smithwicks, Sam and Adam Noble Pilsner Guinness.

Their list of import bottle reads: Amstel Light, Corona, Corona Light, Heineken and Heineken Light and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (though the last time I checked, the Sierra Nevada has been brewed in Chico, CA!).
The tailgate party will be 11:00 to 5:00 p.m., with board games favorites like corn hole, a paper cup, tennis and outdoor bar on the patio (the largest covered terrace in Arlington, according to Collins). The festivities promise to be easy on the pocketbook, with specialties V5 beer: $ 2 national projects (Miller Lite, Bud Light) and $ 2.50 domestic bottles (Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors Light).
“We will show all pre-Super Bowl coverage, including maintenance and O’Reilly Obama,” said Collins. Among the coverage leading to Sunday’s Super Bowl will be the greeters red carpet interviewing athletes and celebrities arriving at the Cowboys Stadium, and we can not forget the inventory this year, television commercials pricy (which you can watch online for the first time).
You can depend on inputs at half price 11:00 to 5:00 p.m. during the pre-game tailgate action with a selection of football fan favorites such as spinach and artichokes, nachos, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, a bowl of chili, Jalapa? O poppers, egg rolls southwest, the speed skins, quesadillas, calamari, chicken satay, and blackened ahi tuna bites. With a Bloody Mary bar and 5 and $ 3 Mimosas, beer drinkers not in cash on game day promotions. In addition, V5 is a catering for the wings and appetizers; you need to order the close of business on Friday for the abduction of 5 pm on game days.
Kickoff is at 6:25 pm, when V5 Super Bowl kicks off with Bud Light and 18 “Family” buckets (6 and 18 beers, including Budweiser, Bud Light Lime, Bud Lite and Sunset Wheat -choose your own combination) and 16-and-pitcher combo pizza (four cheese, sausage and mushrooms, pepperoni, BBQ chicken and 10-inch personal pizzas) $ 20 appetizer sampler Super Bowl, with wings, sticks mozzarella, jalapeno, egg southwest and onion rings, and a part-time special, which includes half-price appetizers and wings (nine different gourmet flavors), just in time for a performance of The Black Eyed Peas.
“Honestly, what are people here who make all the difference … it feels like home, “said Jerry Thomas, a regular V5 living in Washington but work on the road to the courthouse. “I’ll be back here Sunday for the Super Bowl with a large group of friends because I know I’m having a good meal with my favorite bartenders,” he added.
Directly across the street is Michael Landrum’s Ray’s steaks, lower on-set, high-value steakhouse on sending many clients to V5 waiting tables because they did not open seated bar their own.
“You can always spot a radius invited to dinner by what they wear and what they order. We get lawyers, tons of workers of law firms and many doctors,” said bartender Nicole Williams (formerly with Haus Biergarten in the district). “They are a little more sophisticated crowd with a taste for Yuengling, Smithwicks, Long Hammer [for lovers IPA], and all … Sam as seasonal workers, which is really good”, “she added. V5 went so far as to order other top-shelf liquors, such as small lots Hendrick’s Gin (by hand in Scotland, with a mixture of cucumber and rose petal infused gin with traditional), to satisfy the crowd before dinner with Ray.
“On Wednesday and Friday during our promotions we Martini Madness mix lots and lots of Bombay Sapphire martinis for them,” Williams said. And for only 5 each, V5 a mix of its 40 different signature martinis in their promotion of popular back time to the business crowd and again to try a new style. The martinis are listed in the standard categories of fruit and desert. (The German Chocolate Cake with Bacardi Superior rum, Martini, crème de cacao, Frangelica and cream looked tempting!)
“I come in three or four times a week and I’m a regular now, and managers and all the servers know me by my first name. We call it our little “Cheers,” said Erin Medlin, finance executive who works for HealthCentral.com neighbors.
Since V5 opened in 2009, Collins made a good case to impress the Arlington community with expertise in marketing and promotion, honed in his previous executive position in the Group Property Management, Golf National Capital. (It was a dual marketing and management major at Penn.)
“We’re doing a charity event once a month,” he said. “It becomes our name out there and brings people to our facility, it is a win-win for both parties and, more importantly, it allows us to back to the community, “he added. February 16, 5-9 pm, V5 will host a charity event for the Arlington Free Clinic and has already partnered on promotions and events with Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America Chapter Arlington ArlingtonVirginia.com.
“We’re big fans Caps, we show all games from the capital, the more we have the NHL Center Ice package, so we can see all the games of NHL hockey,” said Collins, post-Super Bowl plans.
“We’d love to put in one of the local beers Dogfish to turn in our patio menu of projects as soon as it warms up again,” Collins said, looking toward the spring. The terrace offers three projects, a complete list of bottles, a bar and a packed house during the summer.
Super Bowl Sunday is a holiday for relaxation and letting go, a celebration of our culture and “let the good times roll” American plume. People come from all over the world, braving cold temperatures well, perimeter security and large crowds to get a good seat for the one-day orgy. All you have to do is head to the rate of five!
