Steven Tyler National Anthem

January 23, 2012 by staff

Steven Tyler National Anthem, Steven Tyler received a lot of criticism after performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at AFC championship game on January 22. For someone who usually sits on “American Idol” judge panel and decides if one could make it to the Hollywood, his national anthem performance was deemed not good enough.

One of those who slammed the frontman of Aerosmith was Jason Whitlock. The columnist for FOXSports compared his Sunday night performance to Janet Jackson’s infamous nip slip at the Super Bowl 3plxVIII halftime show. “Steven Tyler far more obscene than Janet Jackson’s t*tty,” so the journalist wrote on his Twitter.

The Associated Press additionally commented that the rendition “wouldn’t get him to Hollywood.” Yahoo added, “He most definitely would not have made it to the next round on the show and I am sure Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson would have had some interesting words to say had he been singing in front of them.”

Tyler performed the patriotic song at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts before the game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens. He wore a long coat and a scarf with the Patriots logo in red, white and blue sequins. In its criticism, Yahoo mocked that his scarf was better than the national anthem rendition.

Amidst the many unfavorable reviews and comments, the “Idol” judge still found at least one supporter in fellow artist Aubrey O’Day. Being one of the fews who enjoyed his performance, the former member of Danity Kane posted on her Twitter, “Love Steven Tyler singing the nat anthem! Werk.”
