Steve BlakeSteve Blake:Steve Blake has accepted the terms of a four-year contract with the Lakers, according to John Canzano of The Oregonian.

A source close to the situation confirmed the agreement with Sam Amick send one of, and said the contract will pay $ 16,000,000 Blake in the next four seasons. No year in the option contract. Blake‘s contract will pay up to $ 4 million each season.

The Lakers have won championships with Derek Fisher, Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown to fill the point guard position, but the three became free agents this summer. Fisher rejected a year of $ 2.5 million contract offer from the Lakers today, and is in talks with the Cavaliers and the Heat. Farmar has been linked only to the Pacers, and was not expected to be retained by LA in all situations.

Blake split last season between the Blazers and the Clippers. A career 39 percent three-point shooter, Blake seems to fit the needs of the Lakers as well. With Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol rights management score, the Lakers have needed a point guard who can shoot, make mistakes and give a little effort on defense. Fisher has been an ace in the three categories in the 11 seasons he has spent in Los Angeles, but at 35 years is losing what little I had quickly.

Blake, 30, is much less proven in the postseason, having appeared in only 15 games of playoff races. Fisher has appeared in 199 playoff games in his career, 183 of them from the Lakers.

The Lakers still could keep Fisher if the parties can reach a compromise, such as Los Angeles owns the rights to Fisher Bird, would not be necessary to use mid-level exception (most of which is now assigned to cover the salary of Blake ) to sign Fisher to a multi year deal.
