State Journal Register, Marking a new era in the journalism community, Journal Register Company, a leading local news and information society, opened the doors of the new Citizen’s Register newsroom focused on the community.

The new newsroom Citizen register is located at 59 Street Field, Torrington, Connecticut, and over 13,000 square feet of open office. The space includes a cafe in the Company first newsroom that is open to the public and serving coffee and pastries; offers free public wifi, public access to more than 120 years of newspaper archives, classroom a meeting space / with video conferencing capability and a dedicated space and workstations for the public as part of the register of citizens of the Community Media Lab.

The space also allows community members with an easy and open access to public registry staff to discuss story ideas and coverage of the community. Community Media Lab space – next to the newsroom – will also serve as a hub for the community of journalists and bloggers to work with the staff registers of citizens and provide additional protection of the community.

Community Media Lab workstations are equipped with software that Journal Register Company used during the project of Ben Franklin, an experience of the edition in which the Company has published all 18 websites and newspapers using only free, Web Tools. These workstations will be updated with additional software on the basis of recommendations by participants of the Community Media Lab.
