Starship Troopers Remake, Not content with remaking Robocop and Total Recall, Hollywood is planning another reboot of a classic Paul Verhoeven sci-fi. Vulture report that Sony Pictures have set the wheels in motion for a remake of 1997′s sci-fi/political satire Starship Troopers.

Producer Neal Moritz (The Fast and the Furious, I Am Legend, Battle: Los Angeles) has hired writers Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz for another adaptation of the 1959 source novel, by Robert A. Heinlein. The pair have writing credits on this year’s Thor and X-Men: First Class (although Jane Goldman and Matthew Vaughn actually scripted the latter).

Verhoeven’s film starred Casper Van Dien, Denise Richards and Neil Patrick Harris, in a future where spacefaring mankind is at intergalactic war with giant Arachnids. A director has yet to be assigned to the task. Len Wiseman’s remake of Verhoeven’s Total Recall, starring Colin Farrell, is coming 2012, with José Padilha’s take on Robocop is currently looking for its lead – Michael Fassbender is the top choice.
