Spiders Blanket Town In Snowy Webs

March 8, 2012 by staff

Spiders Blanket Town In Snowy Webs, At first glace, pictures of Wagga Wagga in New South Wales look beautiful until you realize that they are blanketed in spider webs rather than fluffy snow. The spiders took over after residents evacuated due to flooding. The scene is a bit disturbing.

Arachnid expert Owen Seeman said, “What we’ve seen here is a type of wolf spider. They are trying to hide away (from the waters).” As if residents did not have enough cleaning up to do after the floods, now they are dealing with these web spinning creatures.

The good news is that as the water receeds, the arachnids should retreat as well, which will certainly be a relief to the weary people of Wagga Wagga. These creatures are actually providing a helpful service for the water-logged town too. They are eating the mosquitoes that would become overwhelming if left unchecked, so that is another bit of good news.

Even if they pose no harm, you certainly would not want to walk under a tree occupied by these creepy crawlies.
