In the winter of 2003 were SparkFun but a twinkle in his eye Seidle. But as he toiled away on an engineering project, Seidle realized it was unnecessarily difficult to find the parts he needed to complete his project. From his college apartment, he reached the limit of his credit cards to buy essentials (parts and pizza) and founded SparkFun Electronics. The rest, as they say, is history.

In its seventh year of operation, SparkFun held its first free day event, giving away successfully and 100k worth of goods on a first come, first served. In the second free day, the stakes are high and with 150k (a maximum of $ 100 per person) to earn that users are rewarded is based on the number of years they have been customers SparkFun or their responses to an electronic -quiz on the theme. In addition to the price of funds, will donate SparkFun and 2 for each correct answer (to a total of $ 30,000) to a collection of three charities: The Gathering Place, The Hunger Project, and X Prize Foundation.
