Sleepys, Sleepy LLC is a U.S. distribution and mattress store chain founded in 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. In 2009, Sleepy had more than 700 stores and five distribution centers in 11 states of North and Middle Atlantic, with more than 2,900 employees.
Sleepy sellers are branded “mattress professionals, who attend the University Sleepy” for four weeks of initial employment. In 2009, the chain operates stores primarily in the Northeast and Middle Atlantic, including Connecticut, Washington, DC, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.
Brand mix includes Sleepy Miralux mattresses, made by International Bedding Corporation, a “luxury brand” low cost exclusive to the chain, as well as other lines of exclusive products.
In 2009, Sleepy has been labeled as the furniture retailer’s fastest growing in the United States. In summer 2009, the company moved its headquarters and central New York to a newly built distribution 500,000 square feet (46,000 m2) building in Hicksville, New York.
In 2007, Sleepy has been named one of the best places to work in New York by the New York State Society Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group. In 2008, Sleepy, in collaboration with RKL Productions, has received six Telly advertising for the Inner Child “,” groom “,” Tango “and” Love Your mattress commercials on television. ‘Tango’ has also received the highest award of advertising Communicator Award of Excellence.
Sleepy partnership with the Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) during the 2009 season by providing a convenient landing site sleepwear for new children and adolescents.
