Sleeping Bear DunesSleeping Bear Dunes, “Good Morning America”?? On Wednesday called the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore “the most beautiful place in America”, beating out places like Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in Aspen, Colorado and Sedona, Arizona for first place.

The morning news and entertainment shows said the park has dunes won in their pursuit of the most beautiful place in the country, which began in June.

GMA said tens of thousands of viewers voted for the park, in a note posted on the website of the series. Viewers have named their favorite areas of the program and staff selected the best sites of the presentations.

Jim Madole Grand Rapids nominated Sleeping Bear.

“It’s quiet and serene, a place to watch the world, night or day, and realize that the universe is a real magic, mystery, majesty, and humans are a very small part of it,” he said in his presentation. “Here at Sleeping Bear, I feel awe and wonder at the perfection of Mother Nature.”

The park consists of 64 miles of beaches stretching along Lake Michigan. It consists of two islands, 26 lakes and dunes famous.

Other areas that made the Top 10 list include Newport, Rhode Island, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Point Reyes, California, Aspen, Sedona, Arizona, Destin, Florida, Asheville, NC, Lanikai Beach, Hawaii, and Yellowstone National Park Teton, Wyoming
