Simpsons Record 86 Hours, Courtesy of Fox”The Simpsons” episode “Politically Inept, With Homer Simpson” guest-stars rocker Ted Nugent as a Republican candidate for president. Homer Simpson wants you to vote Ted Nugent for President of the United States?

In Sunday’s well-timed episode of “The Simpsons,” Homer managed to get his own talk show on a network that resembles Fox News, parodying Glenn Beck with the show’s name “Gut Check.” According to Mediate, the cartoon family’s patriarch got the job after Bart filmed him having an Alec Baldwin-spoofing airplane meltdown and the video went viral on the Internet.

During the politically-themed show’s GOP debate, pundit Homer threw everyone for a loop by backing Ted Nugent for the Republican Party nomination. The conservative rocker voiced his own character, comically exaggerating his love of hunting. Huffington Post reports he even joked about using children as arrows when shooting a bow at animals.

Before the episode ended, however, Homer withdrew his support for the “Cat Scratch Fever” singer after his daughter Lisa and a James Madison impersonator helped him realize the error of his ways.

The 63-year-old Nugent recently blasted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which has not nominated him for induction yet.

“I am unable to back off critical issues and play brain-dead politically correct games so that fools can continue their embarrassing denial of historical and current truth and evidence,” he said in an interview. “Real music lovers increase their love for my music as my absolutism and ballsiness increases.”

The Nugent gag was the 496th episode of “The Simpsons,” the longest-running animated series in television history. Zap2It says the historic 500th episode will be Sunday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. on Fox.

To celebrate, the network is inviting fans to participate in “The Simpsons Ultimate Fan Marathon Challenge” at the Hollywood & Highland shopping center in Los Angeles. Starting Wednesday, Feb. 8, fans will attempt to break the current Guinness World Record of continuous television viewing — 86 hours, 6 minutes and 41 seconds — by watching all 500 episodes in a row.

Fans are invited to “like” the show’s official Facebook page to participate in the marathon attempt. The contest winner will receive a $10,500 prize and merchandise from “The Simpsons.”
