Shane Meadows to direct film Stone RosesShane Meadows to direct film Stone Roses, Shane Meadows is the director of a film documenting the return of the Stone Roses. The director of England’s plans are for the film of Ian Brown, John Squire, Gary “Mani” Mounfield and Alan “Reni” Wren, as they rehearse for three sold-out shows - the band’s first in 15 years – to be held in Manchester Heaton Park next summer. I still do not know if Meadows, who was present at the press conference where the group has announced its meeting last week, will include concert footage in his film.

The Independent reports that the project has been confirmed by Warp Films – the production company behind Dead Man’s Shoes and Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee – but the band still does not give the green light. They have said to confirm whether they will be involved at some point in the next five weeks. If the movie goes ahead will direct the feature for the second consecutive year of touring musicians. Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee, a fictionalized account of real life attempt rapper Scor-say-zee to succeed in the music business, co-starred Paddy Considine Meadows regular and featured an appearance by the band Sheffield Arctic Monkeys.

Tickets for two shows Heaton Park, which will take place between 29 June and 1 July were sold out within 14 minutes of going on sale last week, prompting the addition of the third date, it has also sold out. The band will embark on a world tour after the concerts, which will see a total of 220,000 fans at the head of Manchester.
