SF Giants Sued Over Team Logo
October 13, 2011 by staff
The story is this: Neither the Giants nor bothered MLB brand logo so, in March, Gogo Sports Hayward (one of the companies everywhere that sells clothes in the street) went ahead and did the deed . Someone in the legal Giants team, no doubt, heard about this, and dealt with the MLB logo mark in April. They were told they could not, as “virtually identical” logo was already in the system.
Since then there has been some back and forth between Gogo and the Giants, leading to Gogo suing to protect their right to slap the logo on the counterfeit goods.
The good news for the Giants is that demand for Gogo, will probably not get very far. Although no major league mark logo, federal law also protects trademarks. Because it is so obviously related to the San Francisco Giants, in essence, own anyway. So fear not, fans of the Giants! No one rips the shirt’s chest Bruce Bochy is in the short term … thank God.
