Serena Williams & Olympics 2012, At the 2012 Olympics in London, Serena Williams did a little more than becoming only the second woman to garner a career Golden Slam and winning her first singles gold medal. After completing a dominant victory over Maria Sharapova this morning (August 4), Williams engaged in what must be the first celebratory Crip Walk in Olympic history.
Williams, who won the gold medal by taking down Sharapova 6-0, 6-1, made a joyous smile upon hearing the results and then broke into a soon-to-be-legendary c-walk before laughing with supreme confidence.
Williams isn’t done with Olympic competition, either, leaving room for more dance-related innovation at the 2012 games. Serena will join with her sister Venus to compete for a medal in doubles play and attempt to continue her impressive recent streak. She has only lost 17 games in her last six matches and went a stunning 13-0 this summer at the All England Cup, culminating in her fifth Wimbledon title.
