Seniors In Flash Mob

Seniors In Flash MobSeniors In Flash Mob, A group of senior citizens from Paradise are on their way to becoming a viral Internet sensation after a video of a flash mob they performed at the Chico Mall was placed on YouTube.
About a dozen senior citizens from the Feather Canyon Retirement Home gathered in front of the food court at the Chico Mall on Wednesday to perform a freestyle dance to the “Glee” cast version of “Last Christmas.”

The video shows several seniors making their way out onto the floor, some with canes or walkers, waving their arms in the air or dancing with stuffed animals.

The idea for the flash mob, said the home’s assistant manager, Minette Harper, came from the home office for the retirement community, who suggested songs and a date for the event.

“Most of them didn’t know what (a flash mob) was,” Harper said. “Their generation has a totally different idea of what flashing is.”

Once she explained that they could keep their clothes on, residents at the community were excited.

“We just have a couple of very gung-ho residents who will do anything,” Harper said.

The group practiced mini-flash mobs in their dining room before taking the show live at the Chico Mall, in front of the JC Penney store.
