SEAL Team Six

SEAL Team Six, Seal Team Six (ST6), an elite branch of the Navy, arrived at the mansion in Abbottabad where Osama bin Laden and his family were hiding, killing bin Laden.

It is known that the 25 Navy SEALs aboard two-assault helicopters compost bin Laden.

It took nine years, seven months and 20 days to get in the end, and kill Osama Bin Laden, reports the AP.

Navy SEAL Team Six is?? Officially known as the Special Warfare Group Development (DEVGRU).

Formed in 1980 following the hostage crisis in Iran, Team Six was only the third team of Navy SEAL to be created.

The name “Team Six” was used to confuse Soviet intelligence on the actual number of SEAL teams operating at the time, AP reports.

Then in 1987 the name was changed to the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. However, as an officer, simple Six-team name stuck – although there is no official documentation.

The group, which was selected for this mission through its training of experts, had been part of a specific anti-terrorist unit made up of only the best members of SEAL.
