Sasha, 9-year-old began studying the language at Sidwell Friends School, asked her father for a chance to practice with the Chinese president. Like thousands of other American students, Sasha Obama is studying Chinese in elementary school. So this week, when a man from China visited her parents, nine years Sasha had a chance to hone their language skills with native speakers.
Ben Rhodes, Deputy Adviser to national security, told reporters that Sasha played a few phrases in Mandarin with President Hu Jintao after the welcome ceremonies at the White House. Not every child has the opportunity to try its first sentences of Chinese with President of China, “said Rhodes. I think that speaks there is interest in the United States and China, and a desire to get to know the country better.
